Learning Outcomes

Understand the key terms used in AI incorporating machine learning.

Understand and develop your own organisational AI policies with Privacy, Ethics and Fairness at the front of everything AI. 

Understand how a machine learning algorithm provides an outcome.

Understand the challenges associated with LLM prompt design.

Apply knowledge and expertise to support the risk assessment process in implementation and delivery, particularly during the Data Protection Impact Assessment stage and during operational delivery of AI outcomes. Using a specially adapted AI DPIA for the purpose. 

Identify and be able to provide informed mitigation to data privacy risks that exist in artificial intelligence approaches and techniques.

We don’t just deliver courses, and leave you to it. We provide you access to our online portal – which contains dozens of useful tools, templates, audits, policies, and more – all available for you to use within your organisation. This includes Mastering AI: A Guide for Data Protection Practitioners, written by DPAS founder Nigel Gooding.

Though our courses are virtual, you’ll still be fully involved by participating in breakout sessions, asking questions, and sharing your experiences. You can receive valuable advice from peers in the industry, network with other delegates, and make worthwhile connections.  

Our trainers are here to help you. We will provide you with mentor support for one month after the course, to assist with any queries or issues you may have.

This course is primarily aimed at DPOs and data protection professionals whose job performance would be enhanced with the increased understanding of artificial intelligence and the risks it poses to data privacy.

This qualification is likely to be of particular benefit to those working in the following areas:

Exam Information

In addition to the course, there is the option to take the BCS Essentials in Artificial Intelligence exam at an additional cost. If you wish to take the exam, liaise with the DPAS Training Manager who will set you up on the dedicated BCS portal, where you will book your exam. We’ll send you a one-time link for this.

You can take your exam at any time that suits you. It’s worth noting, however, that you will need to acquaint yourself with the updated syllabus if you decide to take the exam six months after the course or later.

  • The exam is held via remote proctor (someone who will watch you complete it).
  • You can do this at any location convenient to you.
  • You will use your own device for the exam.
  • The exam is a 30-minute closed-book exam.

All of our courses are held virtually (unless otherwise stated).

All our courses are tutor-led by experienced data protection professionals.

You will need access to Microsoft Teams (MS Teams) throughout the course.

All courses will commence at 9:00am and will finish at 4:00pm.

Breaks will be scheduled throughout the day. (If you need to attend a meeting during the day, please discuss this with the trainer so they can tie this into allocated breaks.)

You will be sent a link – via email  to the Microsoft Teams meeting two to three weeks prior to the course. (Please ensure that you are able to access this before the course commences.)

All courses have a maximum of 12 delegates.
